Yahoo 554 delivery error: this user doesn't have a yahoo.com account
The Yahoo address you sent to doesn't exist. Yahoo says the message will never be delivered, so don't retry and remove the address from your lists.
554 delivery error: dd This user doesn't have a yahoo.com account (testing123@yahoo.com) [-5] - mta123.mail.mud.yahoo.com
From the sample failure notice on Yahoo's Sender Hub.
What 554 means
Yahoo's Sender Hub shows this line in its sample failed-delivery message. It's Yahoo's "recipient does not exist" error: the Yahoo account you're trying to reach doesn't exist.
Yahoo's advice is direct. Contact the recipient another way to confirm their correct address. Don't retry delivery: it will never complete successfully. And remove the address from your mailing list. Yahoo Help adds that the most common reason for a failed delivery is that the address isn't valid, and that a single misplaced letter can be enough; if mail keeps bouncing, the account may have been closed or moved.
For senders of regular or bulk mail, removing these addresses quickly matters. Yahoo lists "excessive unknown recipients" among its reasons for blocking mail, and says list managers should have a policy for removing addresses that generate 5xx bounces.
Likely causes
- A typo in the Yahoo address.
- The Yahoo account was closed or never existed.
- An old address still on a mailing list.
How to fix it
If you sent the message
- Check the spelling and confirm the address with the person another way.
- Don't retry the same address.
- Remove the address from mailing lists, and remove 5xx bounces automatically.
If you're the recipient or their admin
- If it's your address, check you're giving people the right spelling and that your account is still active.
