FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about how iBlockSpam works, what it costs and what happens to your mail. If your question isn't here, ask us.

Setup and compatibility

Which mail platforms does iBlockSpam work with?

Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, cPanel/WHM and Exchange, plus other mail servers that accept mail from a gateway. We filter at the MX level and deliver clean mail to your server. See Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and cPanel/WHM.

What does setup involve?

An MX change plus platform-specific steps, such as a Microsoft 365 inbound Partner connector with Enhanced Filtering for Connectors, or a Google Workspace inbound gateway. Our guided setup shows a before/after DNS comparison and rollback steps. We aim to set up most domains in one session.

Will changing MX records affect mail already in our mailboxes?

No. Existing mail stays where it is. The MX change only affects new inbound mail. During the TTL window, some senders may still use your old records, so mail can arrive by either route for a while.

How do I check my domain before starting?

Run the free Email Health Check. It reads your public MX, SPF and DMARC records and explains what it finds.

Filtering and quarantine

What does iBlockSpam filter?

Spam, viruses and malware, plus phishing and spoofing. Admins can add geographic filters, attachment-type filters, a Microsoft Office macro filter and custom domain rules.

Will spam still get through sometimes?

Yes, occasionally. No filter catches everything, and some wanted mail will be held. Quarantine and allow/block lists let you correct both.

How do users find held messages?

Every user has a personal quarantine and receives digest emails on a schedule you choose: hourly, daily, on a chosen weekday or custom. Admins also have a domain-wide shared quarantine. See quarantine and digests.

How long is message history kept?

30 days.

Limits and outbound

What are the limits per domain?

Per domain per month: 100,000 inbound messages, a 400 MB maximum inbound message size and 500 outbound relay messages. Mailboxes and domain aliases are unlimited (by count, not message volume).

Does iBlockSpam send outbound mail?

Both plans include an outbound relay (smart host) with DKIM signing and outbound filtering, up to 500 messages per domain per month. It's for occasional relay needs, not bulk sending. See outbound relay.

What happens if my mail server is down?

Inbound mail is spooled for up to 5 days and delivered when your server is back. See outage spooling.

Pricing and plans

How is iBlockSpam priced?

Per domain, not per user. Protect is $12 per domain/month billed annually ($144/year) or $15 month-to-month. Protect Plus is $19 per domain/month billed annually ($228/year) or $24 month-to-month. These are beta prices in USD, excluding tax. See pricing.

What's the difference between Protect and Protect Plus?

Filtering, quarantine and limits are the same. Protect Plus adds daily domain monitoring (weekly on Protect), a monthly owner report and a human setup session.

Is there a free trial?

There's no free trial. Instead, your first annual subscription for a domain comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and month-to-month plans can be cancelled at any time. Create your account, verify your domain and choose a plan. The details are in our refund and cancellation policy.

Do you work with MSPs and web hosts?

Yes. Partner terms, including pricing, are agreed individually; apply as a partner or see partners. Approved partners get a partner console that shows every client account that has granted them access.

Data and security

Where is my email processed?

In the United States.

Does anyone at iBlockSpam read my messages?

Not routinely. Support looks at a specific message only when you ask for help with it. See security.

Do you hold SOC 2 or ISO certification?

No, and we don't claim to. Our security page describes the controls we actually have.

Monitoring and account security

What does domain monitoring do?

It alerts you when your MX, SPF or DMARC records change: weekly on Protect, daily on Protect Plus. See domain monitoring.

Do you collect and summarize our DMARC reports?

Yes, on both plans. Add rua=mailto:dmarc@iblockspam.com to your DMARC record and your portal shows who sends mail as your domain, whether it passes SPF, DKIM and DMARC, what looks like spoofing, and when it's safe to move from p=none to quarantine and then reject. It reports; it doesn't block mail by itself. Counts come only from receivers that send reports, and parsed reports are kept for 13 months. See DMARC monitoring.

Will you tell us if someone registers a domain that looks like ours?

Yes. Lookalike Domain Watch is included in every plan. Every day we check look-alike versions of your domain, such as typos, swapped letters, look-alike characters and other endings, in public DNS and certificate logs, and email you when one is registered or gets a mail server. It detects look-alikes; it can't take them down. See Lookalike Domain Watch.

Can we turn on two-factor sign-in for our iBlockSpam account?

Yes. Anyone on your account can turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app, and gets 10 single-use recovery codes. Owners can require it for everyone on the account. We email you when your password, sign-in email or two-factor settings change, and an activity log shows sign-ins, failed attempts and changes, with the network shown only to the nearest /24 (or /48 for IPv6). Try it in the portal demo.

Is there a free way to watch our DNS records?

Yes. Free Domain Watch checks one domain's public MX, SPF, DMARC and MTA-STS records every week and emails you when they change, with a short monthly report. It needs no account, only a confirmed email address. It watches public DNS; it doesn't filter mail.

Where can we see if iBlockSpam is working right now?

Our status page shows live checks of mail flow through our filtering and relay, plus the website, portal and tools. A check that can't run shows "Not monitored" rather than green.

Leaving

Can we leave without losing mail?

Yes. Point MX back, wait out the TTL, confirm direct delivery, then remove connector settings. Our migration guide covers each step.

Frequently asked questions

Does iBlockSpam work with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace?

Yes. iBlockSpam filters inbound mail at the MX level and delivers clean mail to your existing server. For Microsoft 365 you add an inbound Partner connector with Enhanced Filtering for Connectors; for Google Workspace you configure an inbound gateway. cPanel/WHM and Exchange are supported too.

What happens if my mail server goes down?

Inbound mail is held (spooled) for up to 5 days and delivered automatically when your server is reachable again. Spooling lasts 5 days at most, so treat a longer outage as urgent and contact support.

Do you read my messages?

No. Messages are scanned automatically. Users see their own quarantine, admins see the shared quarantine, and our support team looks at a specific message only when you ask us to help with it. Mail is processed in the United States.

What does unlimited mailboxes mean?

You can protect as many mailboxes on the domain as you like at the same price. It refers to mailbox count, not message volume: each domain includes 100,000 inbound messages per month, with a 400 MB maximum inbound message size.

Can we leave safely?

Yes. Point your MX records back to your mail platform, wait for the TTL to expire, confirm mail arrives directly, then remove the connector or gateway setting. Before your service ends, we help you point your MX records back to your previous provider (or a new one) so mail keeps arriving.
