The short answer
SpamExperts suits web hosts, ISPs and telcos that want to add inbound and outbound filtering and archiving to their own plans, in the cloud or on their own hardware, with control panel plugins and an API. iBlockSpam suits businesses that want to buy filtering for their own domain directly, with a flat, published price, unlimited mailboxes, personal quarantine digests and free DNS tools, independent of who hosts their mail.
If you're an MSP, SpamExperts points you to N-able Mail Assure; our Mail Assure comparison covers that product.

If your host bundles SpamExperts at no extra charge, iBlockSpam is an added cost. Weigh it against what you'd gain: filtering that stays put when you change host, flexible digests, an outbound relay and monitoring.
When SpamExperts is the better choice
- You're a web host, ISP or telco. SpamExperts is built to filter whole hosting platforms, with control panel plugins, an API and licensing by domain, mailbox or server.
- You need to run filtering on your own hardware. SpamExperts offers an on-premises deployment; iBlockSpam is hosted only.
- You need an archive. SpamExperts sells email archiving; iBlockSpam keeps 30 days of history only.
- Your host already includes it and it filters well. There's little reason to pay twice.
When iBlockSpam is the better choice
- You want filtering that isn't tied to your host. Change hosts or mail platforms without losing your filter settings.
- You want a longer default outage window. iBlockSpam spools for up to 5 days; SpamExperts' documentation describes 4 days of retries before a bounce.
- You want each user to manage held mail. Personal quarantines and digests hourly, daily, on a chosen weekday or custom.
- You use Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Guided setup covers Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, with rollback steps.
- You want prices you can read and a guarantee. Prices are on the pricing page, and a domain's first annual subscription has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- You want DNS drift alerts and free tools. Domain monitoring is included, and our tools need no sign-up.
How to switch from SpamExperts
- If your host provides SpamExperts, tell them you're moving filtering and agree when they'll remove the domain from their SpamExperts account.
- Export your allow and block lists.
- Save your current DNS with the Email Health Check and lower the MX TTL a day or two ahead.
- Add your domain in iBlockSpam and follow the guided setup for your platform.
- If your host's control panel manages the domain's MX records automatically, ask the host how to stop it so it can't put the old records back.
- Change MX, test with the Email Header Analyzer, and keep SpamExperts active until the old TTL has passed and no new mail arrives there.
Our migration plan covers each step and the rollback.

Frequently asked questions
How is SpamExperts related to N-able Mail Assure?
Both come from N-able. The SpamExperts site, run by SpamExperts B.V., calls the product N-able SpamExperts and aims it at web hosts, ISPs and telcos. Its page for MSPs and IT pros sends them to Mail Assure, which it describes as the product from its parent company, N-able.
How long does SpamExperts retry delivery if my server is down?
N-able's SpamExperts documentation says delivery is retried for 4 days, after which a bounce goes to the sender. It also describes a continuity configuration where mail can wait longer. iBlockSpam spools inbound mail for up to 5 days and delivers it when your server is back.
My host gives me SpamExperts in cPanel. Should I switch?
Not necessarily. If it's included in your hosting plan and filtering works well, it may cost you nothing extra. Consider iBlockSpam if you want filtering that stays with you when you change host, per-user digests on your own schedule, an outbound relay and DNS monitoring at a published price.
Can a business buy SpamExperts directly?
SpamExperts sells to service providers, with per-domain pricing for web hosts and user-based licences for ISPs and telcos, by quote. Most businesses get it through their host. iBlockSpam sells directly to businesses at published per-domain prices.
